Tech schools have to accommodate more students

November 10, 2009 –  (WALB) 2,400  people in the Albany Metro area lost their jobs over the last year. The area's unemployment rate is up to 10.2 percent.  1,400 jobs lost this year at Cooper Tire haven't helped. Many of those Cooper workers turned to area technical colleges to learn new skills. They're filling up mechanics, carpentry, and heating and air conditioning classes.On average it takes more than six months to find a new job. Many Cooper Tire employees they've given up the job...

Chinese delegates visit Albany Technical College
