Albany Tech students graduate

October 24, 2009 (WALB) - Competition for jobs is tougher right now than it's been in years, but most Albany Technical College students aren't worried. The school held its fall graduation ceremony Friday night. Nearly 500 students were eligible to walk in the ceremony.

Even though Albany's unemployment rate just jumped to 10.3%, students like Computer Information Systems grad Savarrah Rice aren't worried about finding a job. "I feel very prepared," she said. "I'm going to go get my certificates for A-plus and Net-plus next month. I have no doubt that I'm going to pass them, and I have no doubt that I'll have no problem getting a job."

Dan McGee recently got a job at Albany Tech after finishing his coursework. "I started as a work study student at the school, and then after I graduated I was hired at the school," McGee said.

Albany Tech has a 98% job placement rate for its graduates.
