October 28, 2009 - A Delegation of nearly 20 Chinese educators and administrators are touring Albany this week.  The group is from Hangzhou, China, a city with a population of seven million.

FOX 31 News caught up with the 19 delegates at Albany Technical College where Public Relations Director Milloy Schwartz gave them a tour of the new Carlton Construction Academy.  Group liaison and State Representative from Cuthbert, Gerald Greene welcomed the visitors.

The delegates say they’re impressed with the United States educational program.  Group leader Han Baoping said the delegates have learned a lot.

“We have seen your very fine equipment in the processional training; the labs and so on, so we’ll take all this back which will better us,” said Baoping.

After their stop here in Albany it’s off to Newnan, Georgia, for the 19 delegates.  Meanwhile, State Representative Greene says he’s most excited about the growing relationship between China and Southwest Georgia.

“We hope to have students coming here from China and enrolling in Albany Tech, at Darton College, and at Andrew College.  It’s a great international cultural movement that we really hope takes off,” said Greene.

Greene went on to say, he hopes to send students and teachers to China to learn their culture as well.
