Job Description & Responsibilities:

Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance. Present a professional and well-groomed appearance. Attend mandatory clinic training, pre-planning, professional learning days, and other district required trainings. Adhere to district administrative rules; use a distinct clinical knowledge base for decision making in nursing practice; deliver nursing services consistent with Georgia Board of Nursing rules and regulations; nursing procedures are efficient, safe, and effective; maintain accurate documentation of clinic services including emergency situations; demonstrate ethical and professional behavior including maintenance of confidentiality at all times. Conduct vision and hearing screenings and other required health services. Administer and document medications to students according to approved clinic policies, procedures, protocols, and written physician directions to include injectable medications and emergency medication with appropriate documented records. Organize and maintain a clean, orderly clinic to ensure a safe physical environment including locked medication cabinets, practicing standard precautions at all times, and maintaining sharps containers in appropriate locations; maintain adequate clinic supplies. Provide privacy and a caring environment; display and model respect towards students and others; serve as a student advocate and establish and communicate clear behavior expectation in the clinic to students and staff. Identify and manage individuals with suspected infectious illnesses and help prevent transmission to others through exclusion and education. Evaluate student responses to prescribed interventions and the efficacy of the interventions and execute and document the nursing interventions noted in an Individual Accommodation Plan (IAP or Section 504 Plan) or an Individual Educational Plan (IEP). Communicate and collaborate with school personnel, students, and families in a professional manner and with appropriate frequency about school health issues. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing education program Valid RN/LPN licensure in the State of Georgia; Certification in CPR/AED; Certification in American Red Cross Standard First Aid Three years of nursing experience Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job Written and oral communication; strong motivation for community health; ability to maintain a positive working relationship with school personnel, students, and families; competency in computer applications, record keeping, and organizational abilities; interpersonal skills necessary for overseeing the clinic; knowledge of fundamental nursing concepts, practice, and procedures is essential Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable
