Job Description & Responsibilities:

The purpose of this classification is to supervise the operations division of the Transit Department, including vehicle operators and dispatchers. Duties Supervises, and evaluates assigned staff, processes employee concerns and problems, directing work, completes employee performance appraisals; counsels and administers disciplinary or corrective remedies. Supervises, trains, and assists fixed-route vehicle operators, Para transit vehicle operators, dispatchers and others engaged in providing public transportation in the City of Albany. Inspect routes and monitors schedules; organizes and prioritizes departmental work; schedules projects such as training, retraining, work schedules, extra work, special events services, etc. and reviews status of work in progress; coordinates availability of vehicle, equipment, and materials needed; may coordinate schedules with other departments. Implements and manages safety programs; ensures compliance with safety procedures; monitors work to ensure standards are met. Consults with maintenance department employees, other supervisors, other city departments, and other agencies as needed to review operations, coordinate activities, provide technical expertise and receive advice/direction. Supervises and assists operators and dispatchers in performing work functions associated with the provision of providing fixed-route and Para transit service. Supervises and assists dispatchers with transit pass sales and associated financial schedules. Creates and modifies fixed-routes and schedules as required; supervises and assists dispatchers with creating daily Para transit schedules. Operates all revenue equipment; may transport, load and unload fixed-route and Para transit passengers. Inspects revenue vehicle equipment for proper working condition and maintenance; monitors general maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment/machinery in good working condition; reports faulty equipment for repair. Prepares and/or upgrades a variety of forms, payroll sheets, revenue reports, purchase orders, Federal and State mandated operational reports; processes, distributes, and/or forwards as appropriate; maintains records. Manages all fare revenue collection and reporting. Receives a variety of regulatory material, maps, reports, records, and related documents; reviews, processes, and/or forwards as appropriate. Communicates via telephone and/or two-way radio; provides information; takes and relays messages; responds to emergency calls, or requests for service. Conducts accident investigations, reporting and follow-up. Responds to routine requests for information from employees, officials, the general public, passengers or others. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS May be required to be on-call, work weekends, holidays, and special events and/or work more that 40 hours in a week. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; Vocational/Technical training in mechanics, business administration, or related field preferred; additionally, five (5) years previous experience and/or training including supervisory experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must posses and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsement(s).

Salary:

$41,674.88 Annually
