Job Description & Responsibilities:
DUTIES Utilize pharmacy computer and robotic systems in accordance with protocols. Operate and manipulate automated, participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions Adhere to essential policies and procedures, including those relating to proper use of medications and the formulary. Fill outpatient prescription orders. Perform extemporaneous compounding and provision of bulk medications, ensuring there are no chemical and/or physical incompatibilities. Utilize available medication information reference materials. Provide patient medication information and counseling. Order medications using the DMLSS system. Educate and orient self and other staff members to the operations and policies of the pharmacy department and clinic. Answer telephone call questions from patients or hospital staff on pharmacy related issues. Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities. Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a formal pharmacy technician program (i.e., technical, hospital, or retail-based program) or a formal medical services training program of the United States Military. Certification: Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Experience: One year of experience as a pharmacy technician after graduation. BLS Certification
