Job Description & Responsibilities:
Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team with positive interpersonal communication skills when communicating with patients, families, and the medical office staff. Conducts an assessment of the patient’s condition and documents findings. Uses professional judgment in treating patients and modifies the treatment and/or contacts the physician as appropriate. Reviews with patient relevant health-risks, nutritional issues and corresponding lifestyle changes that are warranted. Discusses with the patient and family members medications and medical tests, and assists with their scheduling. Schedules consultations and referrals as needed and calls for prescriptions as directed. Answers patients’ questions and ascertains patients’ needs, acts upon routine requests and relays information. Notifies patients of test results as directed and any follow-up visits requested by the physician. Communicates and reinforces patient care plan and education plan with patient and family, and assesses the patient or family’s ability to comprehend. Ensures examination rooms are stocked with supplies and reorders supplies as necessary. Serves as a clinical leader, implementing nursing concepts, and mentoring other staff as necessary. Remains current on innovations, developments, new procedures and techniques in nursing care in order to provide quality nursing care services. Assumes responsibility for safety, infection control and performance improvement as part of CRHS’s efforts to provide quality care and services. Performs all associated duties, responsibilities and tasks. Presents a professional image to CRHS’s medical staff, co-workers, physicians, patients and family members. Attends professional development programs and in-service training and meets the minimum requirement for continuing professional education. Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requires a high school diploma with an emphasis in Office Occupations and Administrative Skills or a GED state certificate. A business office school, Medical Assistant program or Associate’s degree is preferred. Experience: Requires up to one year of work-related on-the-job experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Licensure, Registrations & Certifications: A Medical Assistant certificate is preferred. Requires a current certificate in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS verification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.)
