Job Description & Responsibilities:
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION The purpose of this classification is to perform professional fire and rescue operations to save lives and minimize property damage. Responds to man made and natural fire, rescue and emergency calls. Maintains vehicles, trucks, firefighting and rescue equipment, and the fire station Performs search and rescue duties to save humans and animals; makes critical decisions as first responder on emergency scene. Participates in firefighting and suppression activities at various locations including grass, trash, forest, vehicle, and structure; drives and operates firefighting trucks and apparatus; coordinates activities at fire scenes; gains entry to structures; controls ventilation; performs salvage work.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; less than one year of experience in firefighting and rescue operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license, as well as a Georgia Firefighter, CPR/First Aid, Georgia Crash Victim Extrication, Georgia Rescue Specialist and other certifications as required
