Job Description & Responsibilities:

This position will work in the Library Cataloging unit assisting with improving access to electronic resources and assessing the collection. Compile records, and sort, shelve, issue, and receive library materials such as books, electronic media, pictures, cards, slides and microfilm. Locate library materials for loan and replace material in shelving area, stacks, or files according to identification number and title. Register patrons to permit them to borrow books, periodicals, and other library materials. Responsibilities Sort books, publications, and other items according to established procedure and return them to shelves, files, or other designated storage areas. Perform clerical activities, such as answering phones, sorting mail, filing, typing, word processing, and photocopying. Manage reserve materials by placing items on reserve for library patrons, checking items in and out of library, and removing out-of-date items. Instruct patrons on how to use reference sources, card catalogs, and automated information systems. Inspect returned books for condition and due-date status and compute any applicable fines. Open and close library during specified hours Collects and analyzes usage data to assist in the selection process, annual reports and monthly reports. Promotes public awareness and use of electronic resources. Assists patrons with general reference inquires, Chat and Ask-A-Librarian and information literacy services. Assists with Bibliographic Instructions and Cataloging. Develops and implements goals related to the University's Strategic Plan, the Academic Affairs goals and library goals that are measurable and specific. Must participate in the nights, weekend and opening rotation schedule Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent and two years computer or customer service experience. A combination of training and experience will be accepted Required Experience Must have the ability to type and operate personal computers is required. Must be able to type 30 wpm correctly. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, students, and the general public. Evening and weekend duties are required.

Salary:

$23,373 to $29,000
