Job Description & Responsibilities:

Provide quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with the Oaks Senior Living philosophy of Person-Centered Lifestyle and in accordance with resident rights. Assist residents with the activities of daily living according to individual resident preferences. Protect the confidentiality of personal and medical information of residents and coworkers. Adhere to each resident’s Negotiated Service Plan; notify the Shift Supervisor, MOD, Wellness Director, and/or Executive Director of any changes in the resident’s condition. Answer and respond immediately to resident calls. Assist with resident activities, encourage, and assist residents to participate in activities. Encourage residents to attend meals in the dining room, escort residents to and from the dining room, assist with serving meals, assist residents with meals in ways that meet their individual needs and desires, observe and report changes in the residents’ appetite and physical abilities to eat and drink. Assist with cleaning the dining room after the meal service as assigned. Assist with cleaning and tidying residents’ room/apartment. Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in resident, employee, and public bathrooms as needed. Establish and maintain good relationship with residents and their families. Dispose of all incontinent products according to policy. Practice proper body mechanics when assisting with resident transfers and follow safety guidelines according to the Oaks Senior Living policies and procedures. Respond to resident emergencies following proper policy and procedure. Offer choice, maintain dignity, and promote individuality for all residents. Protect and maintain resident rights.

Qualifications

Experience in the care giving to older adults preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak English. Desire to work with older adults. Friendly, caring disposition. Must be 18 years of age. Must have a satisfactory criminal history check. Must have physical exam by a licensed physician. Must have a negative drug screen. Must understand the risk of exposure to infectious waste, disease, chemicals, solution, and disinfectants. Must be able to react in an emergency situation
