Job Description & Responsibilities:
The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher and children in day-to-day activities in the classroom and helping to create a safe and caring environment. Assisting in all activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. Essential Job Duties Maintain a safe and healthy environment Meet the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child Provides children with assistance with the following: personal hygiene, medical needs, toileting, diapering, lifting, and feeding Supervises children and actively engages children in activities Guides appropriate childhood development Must be able to communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team environment. Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times. Follow curriculum and daily schedule Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials Be responsible for decorating the class and keeping classrooms clean and orderly Creating daily reports for children, including a photo or video for each child Participate in parent communication Attend in-service and staff meetings Be familiar with and follow all school policies Report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to supervisor Maintain confidentiality
Qualifications
Requirements: Educational Level: Appropriate 2 yr. degree (60 semester hours) or posting a passing score on the Paraprofessional Licensing Test and minimum of GED. Certification/Licensing: Valid Paraprofessional or Aide License. Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of effective instructional techniques and strategies. Demonstration of fair and equitable classroom management skills. Computer literacy and a willingness to learn techniques for computer hardware and software troubleshooting. Infant/ child CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain these)
