Accounting Coordinator/Asst. to CFO

Job Description & Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the coordination of assigned accounting functions for the county and assisting the CFO with all financial and budgeting functions, MAJOR DUTIES Processes accounts payable; codes invoices, enters invoices into system, balances invoices to edit, and processes checks; maintains related records. Maintains and updates vendor accounts. Deposits county funds. Assist with budget preparations, analysis, and quarterly reviews with all departments. Prepares month-end and year-end journal entries. Prepares quarterly payroll reports. Prepares quarterly and annual Department of Labor reports as required. Maintains and monitors bank accounts. Enters annual budget data into the software system; processes budget amendments. Transfers funds for payroll. Primary contact for the Mitchell County Financial software Manages all payroll functions to include 1099, W-2, and other forms as required. Performs additional office support functions as necessary. Attends County Commissioner meetings when requested Performs related duties. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION: Knowledge of customer service principles and practices. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Knowledge of county accounts receivable and accounts payable procedures. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skill in the preparation of clear and precise reports. Skill in oral and written communication.

Qualifications

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a minimum of a Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance.. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with having had a similar position for a minimum of two years. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A four (4) year degree in Accounting or Finance. Governmental Accounting.

Salary:

$35,001 - $50,000
