August 4, 2015- Albany, GA from The Albany Herald- Maj. Gen. Craig Crenshaw, commanding general, Marine Corps Logistics Command (LOGCOM), was given a personal tour of Albany Technical College's campus by President Anthony Parker on Tuesday, as Crenshaw continued a review of Albany's post-secondary educational institutions.
Crenshaw and Col. James Carroll III, Commanding Officer Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany, paid a call on Darton State College Interim President Paul Jones last month and the Marines will visit with Albany State University Interim President Art Dunning later this month.
Crenshaw and Carroll who took their positions in Albany in May. The two have said purpose of the visits is to allow the local education leaders and military leaders to become acquainted with one another and see what the three institutions have to offer MCLB-Albany, its Marines and their families.
"We have a small team here today," Crenshaw said, noting the absence of Carroll, "but the group we have here today represents the larger body."
Marine Corps LOGCOM Sgt. Major Stephanie Murphy accompanied the general on his visit.
"We appreciate you for taking time out of your busy schedule to be here today, and we are proud the diploma, degree and certificate services we offer are used in your maintenance department every day," Parker said. "We want to be sure we are providing the right resources for the young people who help keep us safe.
"We are a small school in the technical college system of Georgia, and if ever become famous one day it will be because of what we do well."
Parker showed Crenshaw areas of the college which are relevant to the base, including The Manufacturing Technology Center, the Drafting Technology Lab and Career Development Center.
