Construction Causes Albany Technical College to Close Main Entrance to Campus

Posted on

February 15, 2010 – This morning, Albany Technical College permanently closed its South Slappey Boulevard entrance to campus. The closure was a necessary move in order to keep construction on track for the College’s Logistics Education Center, a 38,000 square foot facility that is scheduled to open early next year.

Until the new entrance is constructed at Slappey and Industry Boulevards, Albany Tech’s 4,000+ students, 200+ faculty and staff and all visitors to the College, will have to use different traffic patterns to enter and park on campus.

The only access to the main student parking lot is now via Newton Road. Faculty and staff members can access parking designated for them via Lowe Road. Visitors to the Kirkland Administration Building and Conference Center will also access parking via Lowe Road.

The new Slappey entrance is expected to be open to traffic by the end of the College’s spring quarter. In the meantime, during peak traffic periods, Albany Police Officers will be in place to help direct vehicles throughout the campus.
