ATC Holds Fall Honors Day Program

November 27, 2013- Albany, GA- Albany Technical College will hold the fall Honor Day Program for December graduates on Monday, December 2, 2013, beginning at 11am in the Kirkland Conference Center.

Almost 100 students who will be graduating in Albany Tech's Fall Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, December 5th, will be honored during the program on Monday. They will be recognized for such awards as: Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL), Honors with Distinction, National Technical Honors Society (NTHS), Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), Presidential Scholar, SkillsUSA, Student Government Association (SGA), and General Education Development (GED).

Albany Tech's 2013 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) winner and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) State GOAL winner, AAmir Greene, is one of the honorees and will share "The Technical College Experience" with other honor graduates. As the TCSG State GOAL winner for 2013, Greene has been traveling to other technical colleges and businesses throughout Georgia serving as the spokesperson for technical education in Georgia and sharing his story. He is scheduled to address the Georgia General Assembly in January.

Keynote speaker for the program will be Dr. Kimberly Lee, Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness at Albany Tech. Lee joined the Albany Tech administration in June of this year. Prior to coming to Albany Tech, she served as the Vice Chancellor for Adult Education for the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. She holds over 23 years of experience in leadership roles that emphasize program development and services for adult learners within the adult education community.

Lee has been employed with the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), Albany Tech's governing body, for over 16 years, where she held several administrative positions within the Office of Adult Education. A native of Ocala, Florida, Lee obtained her bachelor's degree in International Affairs and her master's degree in Learning Disabilities from Florida State University. She recently received her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Adult Education from the University of Georgia. Currently, she is a member on the American Council on Education Commission on Lifelong Learning.
