December 12, 2013- Albany, GA- The Albany Technical College Criminal Justice Club recently took a trip to Atlanta to visit the Georgia Supreme Court. The learning experience was informative to the group made up of students in the Law Enforcement Technology program.
While touring the Georgia Capitol, the group had the opportunity to listen and observe how laws are established and made, as well as the three branches of government and the roles they play in creating, establishing, and carrying out the laws in the State of Georgia. They also learned about how justices are the individuals who have the final say in high profile cases, such as those dealing with the death penalty. In addition, they were given great insight on how important the votes of the Senate and Congress are when it comes to the laws being set forth into place.
"Knowing the law where you reside is very important," said Jarrod Savage, student in the Law Enforcement Technology program at Albany Tech. "This trip definitely provided us with answers to the thoughts and questions that we were skeptical about and was a learning experience to coincide with our curriculum in our program and future profession."
