June 11, 2009 – Albany Technical College’s Printing/Graphics Technology and Visual Communications programs achieved national accreditation through PrintED.  PrintED, administered by the Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation, is a national accreditation and certification program. To receive the accreditation, Albany Tech’s programs must meet industry standards for graphic communications courses of study at the secondary and post-secondary levels.

“Students will benefit from the PrintED accreditation,” said Jill Mash, ATC’s Visual Communications instructor. “They will now enter the workplace with verifiable credentials, ensuring employers that our graduates are knowledgeable, well-trained and ready to work.”

Albany Tech is accredited in seven areas: Introduction to Graphic Communications, Digital File Preparation, Advanced Digital File Preparation, Digital File Output, Digital Production Printing, Binding and Finishing, and Advertising and Design.

The final site evaluation occurred May 13, 2009. Four southwest Georgia business leaders assisted in the curriculum review and facilities evaluation.
