Albany Technical College officially signed a Pathway Program agreement with The Citadel on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 that paves the way for students at Albany Technical College to work on a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in conjunction with the completion of their studies at Albany Technical College.

Through the Pathway Program agreements, students who are approved by their advisor and in good standing at Albany Technical College, who have a GPA of at least 2.0 and no grades less than a “C”, and who are not otherwise ineligible to attend The Citadel for disciplinary or behavioral reasons, are assured of acceptance into the degree completion program offered by The Citadel School of Business.

"This program creates a pathway for students to earn a bachelor's degree while they successfully complete an associate degree at Albany Technical College," Dr. Anthony O. Parker, President of Albany Technical College. "The Bachelor of Science degree program is fully online and designed for working adults. This will give students an opportunity to advance in their professional career while living here in Albany and surrounding areas of Southwest Georgia."

“The Citadel’s Online BS in Business Administration Program is designed to provide support and flexibility for students who have completed their associate degree and are looking to continue onto the next level. We are excited to partner with Albany Technical College in providing this opportunity for their current and our future graduates,” Dr. Jeremy Bennett, Director of Undergraduate Completion Programs at The Citadel.

The Pathways Program centers on the priorities of Complete College Georgia (CCG), an initiative developed to increase the number of Georgians earning a college degree. In 2012, institutions in both the University System of Georgia (USG) and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) submitted plans to achieve the ambitious goal of adding more than 250,000 postsecondary graduates to Georgia’s workforce by 2020.

Students are noticeably turning to online and hybrid learning models as they work toward their degrees. Albany Technical College is aware of this trend and continues to provide options for the working adults in the region. Growth in online enrollment has seen a steady increase since 2015. More than one in four students now take at least one distance education course. *
