November 9, 2016 - Albany, GA - Albany Technical College’s Radiologic Technology program will celebrate National Radiologic Technology Week by holding an Open House on Thursday, November 10, 2016, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Radiologic Technology lab located in the Nathaniel Cross Healthcare Technology Building, with a tour of the newly energized lab, which opened last fall.

The Albany Tech Radiologic Technology program is an associate degree program that prepares students for positions in radiology departments in hospitals, physician offices or clinics that utilize radiographic equipment for the purpose of providing imaging services to patients. The program emphasizes a combination of classroom and clinical instruction necessary for successful employment. Graduates hold the qualifications of a radiographer and are eligible to sit for a national certification examination for radiographers given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), the pass rate for Albany Tech Radiologic Technology graduates was 80 percent in 2016, with a five-year average pass rate of 79 percent. The job placement rate for graduates from 2011 to 2015 within 12 months of graduation was 100 percent.

This year, the Radiologic Technology profession will be celebrating 121 years since the discovery of x-rays. For more information about the Radiologic Technology program at Albany Tech, contact Richard Parker, Program Chair, at 229.430.3546 or rparker@albanytech.edu.
