Albany Technical College Holds Mental Health Awareness Forum

Posted on

ALBANY, GA – Albany Technical College (ATC) will hold a Mental Health Awareness Forum Wednesday, May 30, 2018, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Kirkland Conference Center.

43.8 million adults experience mental illness in a given year. Mood disorders, including major depression, dysthymic disorder and bipolar disorder, are the third most common cause of hospitalization in the U.S. for both youth and adults aged 18–44. This forum is an opportunity to learn more about mental illness and to gain a better understanding of the consequences, the impact and the treatment options in our community.

The Special Needs program will be partnering with Aspire Behavioral Health & DD Services, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Albany, Albany Technical College Crisis Intervention Team, Phoebe Behavioral Health, and Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency to discuss mental health issues and concerns. Open to the public. Resource handouts will be available.
