June 13, 2011 - Albany Technical College will hold the Grand Opening of its brand new Logistics Education Center on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, beginning with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 3pm on the grounds in front of the building. A reception will immediately follow inside the new Student Center.

The Logistics Education Center will be the home of Albany Tech’s new student center, Logistics Education Auditorium, Culinary Arts Institute, Media Center, and a new Executive Board Room. Speakers for the ceremonial ribbon cutting include Albany Tech President, Dr. Anthony Parker; Commissioner Ron Jackson of the Technical College System of Georgia, Mayor Willie Adams, Dougherty County Commission Chairman, Jeff Sinyard, and Col. Terrence Reid of MCLB Maintenance Center Albany.

“The Center will provide a location for Albany Tech to deliver teleconferencing, online logistics education, and an online education center for all other academic programs,” said Dr. Anthony Parker, President of Albany Tech.

“The College’s Culinary Arts program will transition to a Center for Excellence in Culinary Arts for the hospitality industry in Southwest Georgia,” added Parker. “The new library/media center will support the high quality instruction delivered by all our academic programs. And, finally our students will have a quality location to enjoy themselves with a meal when they are not in class without having to walk for blocks in inclement weather for lunch.”

After the reception, Albany Tech will host the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours beginning at 5:30pm in our new Student Center. Tours of the new facility will be available to all attendees.
