Albany Technical College Holds Fall Honor’s Day Program on Tuesday

December 5, 2016 - Albany, GA - Albany Technical College will hold Honor’s Day program for Fall 2016 on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Kirkland Conference Center. The program precedes Albany Tech’s Fall Commencement set to take place on Thursday evening.

Nearly 90 students will be honored in categories such as American Criminal Justice Association Club, Ambassadors, Engineering Club (E-Club), Honors with Distinction, National Technical Honors Society (NTHS), Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), Presidential Scholar, SkillsUSA, Student Fellowship for Christians (SFC), Student Government Association (SGA), and General Education Development (GED).

Keynote speaker for the program will be Col. James C. Carroll, II, Base Commander for the Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany. A native of McGregor, Texas, Colonel Carroll began his military career when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in July 1985 and served on active duty with the Marine Corps Reserve Full-Time Support Program from April 1987 until April 1992; ultimately reaching the rank of sergeant. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps on Aug. 14, 1992, after completing Officer Candidate School.

Carroll holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from National University, San Diego, California; a master’s degree in Procurement and Acquisitions Management from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri; and a master’s degree in National Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, National Defense University, Washington, D.C.; and is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. He maintains Level II certification in Life Cycle Logistics.

Among the list of students being honored is Kozman Barnum, Albany Tech’s 2016 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) Student of the Year. Also, Dana Watson, Miss Albany Technical College for 2015-2016, will give a special presentation on “The Technical College Experience.”

Albany Tech’s Fall Commencement Exercises will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at 7 p.m. at the Albany Civic Center with keynote speaker, Dr. Angela Hines-Brown, Early Childhood Care and Education instructor at West Georgia Technical College, and 2016 Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year for the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG).
