September 10, 2012- ALBANY, GA from WFXL- Albany Technical College held their annual State of the College Address Monday morning to update faculty and students on where the facility stands.

Dr. Anthony Parker presented the numbers from the past year and although not all goals were met, Albany Tech feels it was a successful year.

Student retention, graduation rates, and percentage of job placements were up while enrollment, GED graduates, and total awards went down.

Dr. Parker says in his 17 years at Albany Tech, there will be enrollment plateaus and this doesn't concern him.

Also down was the number of total trainee contact hours. As a way to combat this, Dr. Parker introduced the new Center for Business Solutions, an initiative that will work alongside businesses in the community.

After the address, Dr. Parker answered the pressing question regarding tuition increase. Despite the increase scheduled for January, Albany Tech plans to provide individualized assistance for every student.

Dr. Parker says every student is different and not all of their goals are the same. As a college with less than 5,000 students, Dr. Parker said their advantage lies in the ability to address every student on a personal level.
