Albany Tech Opens New Career Development Center on Monday

November 4, 2011 - Albany Technical College will hold a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the new Career Development Center on Monday, November 7, 2011, at 2pm with a reception immediately following.


The Career Development Center will be the new home for the Career Services division of Albany Tech. The Career Services division is responsible for assisting active Albany Tech students and graduates in the pursuit of suitable, awarding employment. The Career Services division conducts quarterly follow-ups on graduates and employers. These surveys help to ensure that Albany Tech is achieving its educational objective of providing students and graduates with the skills necessary to perform in a competitive workforce environment.


“Albany Tech’s new Career Development Center will offer resources, services, and opportunities to students to assist them in achieving their career goals and also provide services to employers to help them meet their workforce needs,” said Judy Jimmerson, Director of Career Services at Albany Tech.


The new center has a large state-of-the-art computer lab equipped with 30 new computers, 10 kiosk computer stations, interview rooms, and a conference room.

The Albany Area Employer Committee recently won the Georgia Employer Committee’s Rising Star Award. Albany Tech’s Director of Career Services, Judy Jimmerson, serves on this committee. The committee won the award based on efforts to provide information on new legislation that impacts employers, as well as helping them with their workforce issues.
