Albany Tech Holds Spring Honors Day Program

April 27, 2015- Albany, GA- Albany Technical College will hold Honor's Day for spring on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, beginning at 11am in the Kirkland Conference Center. Keynote speaker for the program will be Kenneth Cutts, District Director in the Office of Congressman Sanford Bishop.

A native of Albany, Georgia, Kenneth Cutts is the District Director for Congressman Sanford Bishop in 29 Southwest and Middle Georgia counties. He is in charge of all district operations for the Congressman in offices located in Albany, Columbus, and Macon.

A graduate of Monroe Comprehensive High School, Cutts holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Albany State University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University. He has received numerous awards, including Albany Boys Club Youth of the Year; Future to Fulfill Award – Albany State University National Alumni Association; Georgia Trend Magazine's 40 Under 40; Graduate of Leadership Albany; Graduate of Leadership Lee; Southwest Georgia 40 Under 40; and Graduate of Leadership Georgia. He also holds memberships in the Albany State University National Alumni Association, NAACP, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Cutts lends his time to serve on Boards and Civic Organizations in the Albany area, as well as the district the Congressman serves. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Albany Civil Rights Institute; President of Easter Seals of Southern Georgia Board of Directors; Urban League of Greater Columbus Board of Directors; Sowega Council on Aging Board of Directors; and the Consumer Credit Counseling of Southwest Georgia Bard of Directors.

Nearly 100 Albany Tech students will be recognized during Tuesday's ceremony for award categories such as American Criminal Justice Association Club, ATC Ambassadors, Collegiate DECA, Engineering Club (E-Club), Honors with Distinction, Mr. and Miss ATC, National Technical Honors Society (NTHS), Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), Presidential Scholar, SkillsUSA, Student Fellowship for Christians (SFC), Student Government Association (SGA), and General Education Development (GED).

The spring Honors Day program recognizes honor students in advance of Albany Tech's regularly scheduled spring graduation, which will be held on this coming Thursday, April 30, 2015, at 7pm, at the Albany Civic Center. More information to come later this week on Albany Tech's spring graduation.
