August 5, 2011 - In preparation of the official Quarter-to-Semester (Q2S) switch later this month, Albany Technical College will hold a “Death of the Quarter” ceremony on Monday, August 8th, beginning at 10am.

The line-up for the New Orleans style “funeral” will begin on the side of the Kirkland building facing Artisan Hall and proceed around campus until reaching the new Logistics Education Center. Albany Tech administration, the Q2S committee, Student Government Association members, Titans cheerleaders, students, and a band will lead the processional march.

Old program brochures under the quarter system will be placed in a casket to symbolize the “death of the quarter,” with remarks by ATC President, Dr. Anthony Parker, and Student Government Vice President, Rodriquez Thomas. Following the remarks, a band celebration will officially ring in the start of the semester system. The ATC Culinary Arts department will also provide a jambalaya and benyas lunch.

The fall term will mark ATC’s and all colleges under the Technical College System of Georgia’s (TCSG) first term under the semester system. ATC’s fall term will begin on Monday, August 22.
