December 11, 2014- Albany, GA- Albany Technical College's Culinary Arts program will hold their first ever "Albany's Next Titan Chef" competition on Friday, December 12, 2014, from 9:30am to 12:30pm in the Culinary Lab in the Logistics Education Center.

"Albany's Next Titan Chef" is designed to engage Culinary Arts student in a competition similar to the television series "Chopped" to learn to prepare various parts of a meal in a timely manner while being creative and innovative in the process. There will be three rounds: first round includes the appetizer; second round includes the entrée; and the final round includes the dessert.

Contestants will be judged on Presentation (1-10 points); Creativity (1-10 points); Taste (1-10 points); and Sanitation (1- 10 points). After each round, the competitor with the least amount of points will be eliminated from the contest until the last winning chef is left. For each round, a variety of ingredients can be used. Students can only use the ingredients they are provided with. One protein will be provided for each of the rounds.

Head Chef and chairperson of Albany Tech's Culinary Arts program, Todd White, said he plans to do another competition in the spring and hopes to be able to hold it in a larger space on campus to invite the community. He says this is a great way to engage students into utilizing what they've been taught in the program while having fun at the same time.
