Albany, Georgia - Albany Technical College performed outstandingly at the SkillsUSA National Competition held in Atlanta, GA, from June 24 to June 28. The competition, which draws talented students from across the country, saw five of Albany Tech's finest compete at a national level after winning gold medals in the state competition in February.

The team, comprised of students from various disciplines, has brought home one gold medal and three bronze medals, demonstrating their excellence and the high level of training provided by Albany Technical College. "Our students have once again showcased their exceptional skills and commitment. We are extremely proud of each participant's achievements and the excellent guidance provided by their advisors," said Ken Williams, Student Life & Athletic Director at Albany Technical College.

Medalists:

  • Gold Medal: Frank Mills, First Aid/CPR - Coached by Brandon Kent

Bronze Medals:

  • Lentae Hollis, Emergency Medical Technician - Coached by Brandon Kent
  • Rebecca Stewart, Emergency Medical Technician - Coached by Brandon Kent
  • Keiyanna Harris, Nurse Assisting - Coached by Teresa Darity

Albany Technical College congratulates the advisors, including Teresa Darity, Ivey Spears, Dr. Marla Fowler, and especially Brandon Kent, who coached multiple medalists. Their dedication and expertise have been crucial to preparing the competitors.

"This event was not just a competition, but a great learning experience for our students and a testament to the supportive community at Albany Tech. We are thankful to everyone who played a role in making this journey successful," added Dr. Emmett Griswold, President of Albany Technical College.
