Thumbs Up! March 21, 2016

March 21, 2016 - Albany, GA from The Albany Herald - In early February, the Cancer Coalition of South Georgia held its 3rd annual Night for Hope. The honoree for this year's event was Albany Technical College President Anthony Parker. Parker shared his cancer stories and, yes, he has more than one. Fifteen years ago Parker was diagnosed with prostate cancer, which was successfully treated with radiation and implants. Then in 2005, he was diagnosed with Lymphoma, which did not respond so successfully to treatment. With no family match, Parker was able to donate his own T cells for transplant. That procedure was done in July. Parker was back at work by August and on the golf course by Labor Day. These are the kind of stories all cancer patients and their families would love to be able tell. Parker is among the fortunate with a good job, good insurance, a strong faith and a loving family. The Cancer Coalition would like every story to have such an ending. The Night for Hope raised more than $30,000, all of which will remain right here in South Georgia, to continue the battle against cancer. Thank you, Dr. Parker, for sharing your stories and to all who attended and so generously donated to the cause...
