Saturday robotics competition encourages students to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Albany, Georgia - Albany Technical College Engineering Prep Academy (ATCEPA) will be hosting the First Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics Competition on Saturday, December 14th, in the Kirkland Conference Center on behalf of the FTC Camilla League.

“We encourage the students to work as a team on their troubleshooting skills, while at the same time refining their math and analytical thinking skills,” says Michelle Lilly-Williams, ATCEPA project Director.

The competition will involve students from Grades 7 through 12. The ATCEPA has a total of 3 teams participating in the competition: Albany Middle, Merry Acres, and Radium Springs. In addition to the ATCEPA teams, there will be additional middle school and high school teams participating. Students who participate in First Robotics are able to acquire skills in the areas of building, critical thinking, problem-solving, and team building. The pits will open at 9:00 am, and the Opening Ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12:15 pm.
