New texting ban in effect Tuesday

Posted on
January 26, 2010 - The ban applies to only bus drivers and commercial truck drivers, but some say it should include more.  A new law out Tuesday is banning a select few drivers from texting while driving.

The ban applies to bus drivers and commercial truck drivers. If caught, they could face a fine of $2,750. Mayor Willie Adams says he believes all drivers should be included in the ban, especially teenagers. Mayor Adams knew two people killed in car accidents, both caused by texting.

There is legislation in the Georgia House waiting to be passed that would ban texting while driving for all drivers.
