June 9, 2009 (WALB) - Albany Technical College honored the Albany Marine Base's Commanding General with a farewell luncheon.

Major General Willie Williams, Commanding General, Marine Corps Logistics Command, worked closely with Albany Technical College to train students in diesel technology and welding, and provide the labor force needed at the base to repair the equipment and vehicles for Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"In some cases our abilities to put the right equipment at the right places at the right time will be the difference between life and death. And it is certainly the difference between mission accomplishment and mission failure," said the General.

General Williams will be leaving the Albany base June 29th with a change of command, being transferred to Washington D.C.
