Job fair draws hundreds

June 30, 2010 – (WALB) Hundreds of people attended a healthcare career fair sponsored by WALB Wednesday.  Doors were opened at the Merry Acres Event Center 15 minutes early because of the long line of people wanting to get their resumes before employers.

Representatives from Palmyra, Tift Regional, Colquitt Regional, the Army, and Dialysis clinic were on hand to talk about the jobs currently available.

Debra Davis is looking for a job in medical administration. She's been out of work for about a year and a half because of the economy, but she hasn't been waiting for a job to find her. She went back to school at Albany Tech, so she'd have a better chance at landing a good job.

Davis said, "I went back to school to better myself so I could have more opportunities. I feel very confident with talking with everyone at the tables, I visited just about every table, and I feel confident that somebody will call."

Albany Technical College was also in attendance to showcase the programs they have available in the healthcare field.
