1)    Keep your hands clean: Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Those are open pathways for germs to enter your body.

2)    Gel In/Gel Out: Although nothing can replace the effectiveness of simply washing your hands with soap and warm water, using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer between hand washings is an important preventative measure to take.  Your instructors will urge you to make it a practice to use hand sanitizer as soon as you get to class or lab and again before you leave. Gel dispensers are installed in most classrooms as well as in numerous other locations across campus. The Campus Bookstore also has a limited number of hand sanitizers available for purchase.

3)    Keep your work area clean: Anti-bacterial wipes will be provided in every classroom and lab. Use them to sanitize your desk space, lab area and any equipment you may be sharing with other students.

4)    When you cough or sneeze: Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.

Throw the tissue in the trash
immediately after you use it.

If you don’t have a tissue,
cough and sneeze into your elbow
not into your bare hands.

5)    If you get sick:
Do not come to campus with a fever or any flu-like illness.  Call or email your class instructors BEFORE your next scheduled class to inform them that you will not be in class. STAY HOME until your fever has been gone for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
