“We are excited to announce that ATC has a total graduating class of 480 students with an overall sum of awards totaling 515 for the fall 2020 commencement. This includes Technical Certificate of Credit, Diploma, and/or Associate Degrees,” stated Kennosha Hawkins, Albany Technical College Registrar.

There will be six Dual Enrolled high school students honored during commencement. Out of the six, four of the dual enrolled graduates have completed their Associate of Applied Science degree prior to receiving their high school diploma. Two students have received an ATC Technical Certificate of Credit.

Dr. Anthony Parker, President of Albany Technical College said, “We are very proud of the accomplishments of these graduates during COVID-19. Albany Technical College works very closely with local employers to create placement opportunities for all graduates. If a student has made it this far, they know it takes hard work, but they can achieve their goals. We know that our students will go into the community prepared with the best career education available.”

Scott SteinerThe Keynote speaker for the ceremony will be Scott Steiner. Scott Steiner became President and CEO of Phoebe Putney Health System – a comprehensive, regional health system with 4,500 employees based in Albany, GA – on March 1, 2019. He began his career in healthcare administration in East St. Louis, IL in 1992. Before leading Phoebe, he worked as an executive with Tenet Healthcare Corporation for 12 years, most recently as CEO of four Tenet hospitals in Detroit.

Scott brought his resolute commitment to patient safety to Phoebe, initiating a journey for the health system to become a High Reliability Organization. He also developed Phoebe Focus, a new strategy, philosophy, plan and approach to guide Phoebe into the future. It includes quality and safety initiatives and a $250 million investment in capital improvements to transform the delivery of healthcare throughout southwest Georgia.

When southwest Georgia became an early coronavirus hotspot, Scott was one of the first healthcare executives in the country to raise alarms about the startling amount of supplies and resources required to mount an effective response to the outbreak. By setting up a public coronavirus hotline and initiating drive-through testing sites, Phoebe blazed a trail that many other health systems followed. Under Scott’s guidance, Phoebe also became a beacon of transparency, sharing daily updates on its number of COVID-19 cases and its response to the pandemic.
