ATC Students Win DECA Awards at February Conference in Atlanta

March 14, 2011 - Six Albany Technical College students recently won awards at the 2011 Georgia Collegiate DECA Career Development Conference held in February in Atlanta. By winning at the state level, these students will have the opportunity to attend the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida later in the year.


The DECA Conference has three categories: Business Simulations, Prepared Business Presentations and Case Study. Within these three categories, there is a range of different topics to choose from. Albany Tech students competed in the following: Business Simulations: Restaurant and Food Service Management; Case Study: Human Resource Management; Sports and Entertainment Marketing; Marketing Management; Prepared Business Presentation: Entrepreneurship.


Albany Tech winners included: Chancy Davis and Shana Kendrick (First Place in Sports and Entertainment Marketing); Thomas John (Second Place in Restaurant and Food Service Management); and Lindsey Dellinger (Third Place in Human Resource Management). Other students who competed include: Calvin Brooks and Sha’Daria Glenn.
