July 23, 2009 - Daja McCray, a cosmetology student at Albany Technical College, recently earned a bronze medal at the National SkillsUSA Championship. The 21-year old served as a model in the nail care category. She hopes to compete in the championship next year and gained insight into the competition by working as a model. After graduating from Albany Tech, she plans to work as a cosmetologist and also pursue her associate degree. She is also a talented artist.
SkillsUSA is a national non-profit organization serving teachers, as well as high school and college students, who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. It was formerly known as VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America).
