July 27, 2009 - The entire 2009 Radiologic Technology class at Albany Technical College passed the National Certification Exam given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) on the first attempt. Nine students earned their certification, which is required to work long-term in the Radiologic Technology field.
“I was excited and proud for my students,” said Kelley Castro, Instructor. “They were determined to succeed. A 100% pass rate also proves our program is improving and producing well-trained students.”
The pass rate is an important aspect towards program accreditation. The program’s accrediting agency, the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology or JRCERT, requires 75% of graduates pass the certification exam on the first attempt. The JRCERT uses a five year pass-rate average, along with other criteria, to determine re-accreditation.
“The success of our students is critical for the continuation of the Rad Tech program,” said Dr. Parker. “The hard work of these students will allow the college to maintain this important program. Their success also shows that our curriculum is good and the instructors are excellent at their job.”
