May 8, 2009 – Albany Technical College will assist Novena University, in Nigeria, with the development of the university’s technical education programs. The Pro-Chancellor of Novena University, Chuks Ochonogor, recently signed the Memorandum of Understanding along with Albany Tech’s President, Dr. Anthony Parker, during a visit to Albany on April 30, 2009.

Albany Tech will help Novena University develop its technical education curriculum in several occupational areas. Instructors will travel from Nigeria to train at Albany Tech, and some Nigerian students will also attend ATC until Novena University’s programs are fully established.

Some of ATC’s faculty and staff will assess the workforce needs of the Niger Delta Region, where Novena University is located, and then recommend programs that will aid the local businesses and industries.

“The academic leaders of Novena University came to Albany Tech because their industries were in need of skilled employees from craftsmen to computer technicians,” said Dr. Parker, Albany Tech’s President. “We are excited about the opportunity to help the university launch many needed technical education programs.”
