Albany Technical College Launches New Cyber Crime Investigation Degree Program for Fall Semester

Posted on

ALBANY, GA – Albany Technical College (ATC) will launch a brand new Cyber Crime Investigation associate degree program starting this fall semester. The program is a result of an active collaboration between ATC and the Advisory Board for the college’s Law Enforcement Technology program.

The new program will allow veteran law enforcement officers the opportunity to increase their educational goals and enhance their skills to combat Cyber Crime. It will also allow for these same agencies to build networking and enhanced resources through the implementation of Cyber Crime Task Force units between Federal, State, and Local agencies. Those interested in the program do not necessarily have to be certified police officers, but would work in a civilian capacity or as a consultant to an agency.

“This is a win-win situation for all stakeholders,” said Kenneth Singleton, Chair of the Law Enforcement Technology program at Albany Technical College. “The implementation of this program finalizes and initiates the joint venture between Albany Technical College and the prospective employers, who are active members on our Law Enforcement Advisory Board.”

The program consists of coursework that will include a division of work in the disciplines of criminal justice and computer information systems. Graduates will qualify to become computer crime investigators for local or state criminal justice agencies. These graduates will also be competent to serve as computer security specialists or consultants with private businesses.

“The final product of this collaboration will be an optimum example of workforce development providing industry demands,” said Don Laye, Dean for the Public Safety Division at Albany Tech. “It’s a pleasure to work with such an active group of personnel.”

The program will be available for students to start enrolling for the fall semester, which will begin on August 21, 2017. For more information about the program, visit albanytech.edu.
