Albany Technical College holds Titans Athletic Banquet Friday evening

April 20, 2017 - Albany, GA - Albany Technical College will hold its annual Titans Athletic Banquet on Friday, April 21, 2017, beginning at 6pm in the Kirkland Conference Center. The event will honor basketball players from the 2016-2017 season.

Keynote speaker for the banquet will be Coach Roderick Woods, assistant women’s basketball coach for South Carolina State University (SCSU). Serving in his second year at SCSU, Woods spent 12 years as an athletics directors and head women’s basketball coach for Clinton Junior College in Rock Hill, South Carolina. During his time at Clinton, he achieved over 200 victories and coached three Region X Players of the Year. Prior to his coaching on the collegiate level, Woods served as an assistant coach at Lamar High School in Lamar, South Carolina from 1999 to 2001.

In his playing career that started at Spartanburg Methodist College, Woods was an All-Region X First-Team performer and was a member of the team at Spartanburg that advanced to the championship game of the 1992 NJCAA National Championship. He then went on to play at Eastern Kentucky University from 1994 to 1996 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in 1999 and has recently earned his master’s degree in Sports Management from American Public University.

Albany Tech Men’s Titans and Lady Titans will both receive several awards during tonight’s ceremony. The Titans Cheerleaders will also be recognized, as well as a video recap presentation of the season.
