Albany Technical College Associate of Science in Nursing Fall 2016 Class Boasts 100 Percent Pass Rate on NCLEX

ALBANY, GA – The Albany Technical College Fall 2016 class for the Associate of Science (ASN) in Nursing program recently received notification from the Georgia Board of Nursing that all 10 graduates received a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-RN exam.

The NCLEX-RN exam is used by all state boards of nursing across the United States to help assess a student’s competency and is required for licensure. Also, many state boards of nursing use the total overall NCLEX-RN pass rate for a school as one of the main ways to approve a school’s ability to provide a nursing education in the state. The pass rates are one of the best ways to determine a nursing program’s student preparedness.

“To achieve an honor of this magnitude demonstrates the caliber of leadership, faculty and staff, and students of Albany Technical College,” said Dr. Latrona Lanier, Director for the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program at Albany Tech.

Lanier said that not only did the program graduates earn the 100 percent pass rate, but they have all received employment opportunities throughout the Southwest Georgia community, including employers like Phoebe Putney and Cardiology Associates, just to name a few.

“Ultimately, we are here to make a difference in our community by producing highly-qualified nurses,” said Lanier. “It is wonderful seeing our purpose come to fruition.”

Albany Tech launched the ASN program in 2013 with 24 students in the first cohort, all of which graduated with a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX in 2015. Today, the program has over 70 students enrolled and anticipates the program will continue to grow.

The program was also recently ranked number one in Georgia by RegisteredNursing.org. With 40 schools being analyzed, only 10 schools ranked, with Albany Tech’s program leading the ranking.
