Albany Technical College ASN Program to Pin Second Class on Wednesday Evening

November 29, 2016 - Albany, GA - Albany Technical College’s Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program will pin potential graduates in the second class since the program’s inception in 2014 on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Kirkland Conference Center.

Ten students will be pinned during the evening ceremony. In addition, two of these students will receive the Mattie Buchannon Clinical Skills Award and two will receive the Dorothy B. Garner Academic Achievement Award. The keynote speaker for the event will be Schvon Bussey, former Director of Nursing for Albany Tech and leader in helping the college gain the ASN program.

Throughout Bussey’s 11-year tenure with Albany Tech, the program received many accolades, including being ranked 52nd in the Nursing Journal’s Top 100 Best Nursing Schools listed for the Eastern Region of the U.S. in 2015. The program also boasted a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-RN for 2015.

A recipient of the 2013 John and Suanne Rouche Excellence Award given by the League for Innovation, Bussey holds a certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner, a master’s degree in Nursing Education and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Albany State University. She is currently enrolled at Valdosta State University for a post-master’s degree in Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and currently serves as the Interim Director of the Associate of Nursing program at Atlanta Technical College.
