November 23, 2015 - Savannah, Georgia — Albany Technical College (ATC) and Savannah State University (SSU) held an articulation agreement signing ceremony at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015, in the Student Union Ballroom at Savannah State University. ATC President Anthony O. Parker and SSU President Cheryl D. Dozier met to sign the agreement.

The goal with the articulation agreement is to provide Associate of Applied Science (AAS) graduates of Albany Tech’s Civil Engineering Technology and Business Logistics Management programs with an opportunity to continue on with Savannah State University to earn their Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology (BSCET) and a Bachelor of Business Administration.

“This signing is a reflection of the commitment that these two fine institutions have made in regards to serving the students of this area,” said Manual Hall, Chair of the Engineering and Electronics Technology programs at Albany Technical College.

By providing Albany Tech students who choose to specialize in Civil Engineering Technology with a four-year degree option, this agreement is designed for students to matriculate his/her first two years at Albany Tech culminating with an associate’s degree and completing their bachelor’s degree at Savannah State.

“Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workers drive our nation’s innovation and competitiveness by generating new ideas, new companies, and new industries,” said Hall. “Both institutions are aggressively seeking ways of providing students with the building blocks and structure needed to successfully engage in such an innovative career.”

Albany Tech students who have graduated with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in logistics can continue their studies at Savannah State.

“This provides yet another opportunity for our logistics students to continue their education at the bachelor’s degree level and allow us to market our offering as a seamless, comprehensive Logistics credential at the highest levels,” said Matt Trice, Vice President of the Center for Business Solutions at Albany Technical College.

Savannah State University’s degree major in global logistics and international business (G-LIB) is housed in the College of Business Administration. The four-year, interdisciplinary G-LIB degree program is the first of its kind in the state to focus on both global logistics and international business. Courses offered include international business, management, marketing, logistics and supply chain, economics, finance and entrepreneurship. Because the Port of Savannah is recognized as one of the most strategic ports on the East Coast, graduates of the G-LIB program will have exceptional knowledge of logistics and international business, and the practical skills to support related industries.

Savannah State University’s College of Business Administration is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the premier accreditation body for institutions offering business and accounting programs. The Civil Engineering Technology program, housed within the College of Sciences and Technology, is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, Commission of ABET.

The articulation also supports the Complete College Georgia (CCG) initiative for all USG institutions, which seeks to simplify earning four-year degrees for students in the state.
