ATC and GeorgiaFIRST Robotics Hosts X-BOTS Regional Event

Posted on

June 24, 2015- Albany, GA- Albany Technical College (ATC) and GeorgiaFIRST Robotics will host a "Bash of the Summer" (X- BOTS) regional scrimmage competition on Saturday, June 27, 2015, from 8am to 5pm at the Albany Civic Center. Over 20 teams from across the state will be competing in the event.

The Albany Technical College Titans Alliance Team 5536, who garnered several prestigious regional and national awards in their own rookie robotics season, will be volunteering for the event and helping rookie teams from around the local area learn about competition robotics, as well as introduce them to the world of engineering. The Alliance is comprised of both high school and college students currently enrolled in one of Albany Tech's Engineering and Computer Information Systems degree programs.

X-BOTS is the organization's first off-season event of 2015, and will feature "Recycle Rush," a recycling-themed game played by two alliances of three robots each. Robots score points, both autonomously and when driven by students, by stacking totes on scoring platforms, capping those stacks with recycling containers, and properly disposing of pool noodles, representing litter. The event will also showcase GeorgiaFIRST robotics programs geared towards elementary and middle school students, so be sure to stop by and see how you can get your kids thinking like an engineer.
