May 27, 2009 – Albany Technical College President Dr. Anthony Parker is serving as the Walk Chairman for the 2009 Albany Light the Night Walk. Light the Night is an annual fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society which raises money for research of blood cancers. It’s also the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of patients and their families.

Dr. Parker, a lymphoma survivor, is also encouraging Albany Tech’s faculty, staff and students to walk, make donations and take care of their health.

“I am extremely fortunate to have a great family, a great medical team, a great hospital, and a bright future,” said Dr. Parker. “I encourage everyone to get regular physicals which can lead to early detection and a better prognosis.”

Last year, the Albany Light the Night walk raised $90,000. Albany Tech raised more than $5,000.

Funds raised through Light the Night support the work of hundreds of the world’s best and brightest researchers in their search for better therapies and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
