January 15, 2009 (WALB) - Tens of millions of dollars in improvements are being implemented at MillerCoors in Albany. That was part of an announcement made at Albany Tech Thursday afternoon during a Quick Start agreement between the college and the plant.

Quick Start is a work force ready program that develops a specific training program for industries. Already, 25 employees have been added at MillerCoors, as they begin to produce Coors products including Keystone Light and Coors light.

Those employees are already enrolled in Quick Start. More employees will be added as the plant continues to expand, which means more will train at Albany Tech.

"With the new employees, we're also bringing in a large amount of equipment, new technology and so with that comes the need to be able to develop new training materials, standard operating procedures and really bring those employees right off the get go, give them that foundation they need to be successful in the business," said Plant Manager Chris Thelen. Dr. Parker said, "this is a great shot in the arm at this time for our community."

The Albany plant is the first Miller plant to begin brewing Coors products.
