Albany Tech Foundation Receives Scholarship Donation from the Georgia Power Foundation to promote STEM Education

ALBANY, GEORGIA – Today, the Albany Tech Foundation was presented with a check for $2,500 from the Georgia Power Foundation, Inc. to help fund equipment to expand the college’s STEM program labs.

Albany Technical College (ATC) provides technical education and workforce development training in several STEM disciplines, including Civil Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, and Telecommunications Engineering Technology. These programs lead to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree and many ATC graduates continue their education at four-year transfer universities to earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering, including Middle Tennessee State University and Kennesaw State University.

Through these donations, the Albany Tech Foundation is able to purchase new equipment for the already existing hands-on STEM labs. This new equipment allows ATC students the opportunity to design, implement, and test circuits from any location with access to a computer. These devices promote STEM learning and allow ATC students to receive the most up-to-date training.

“Georgia Power has had a long-standing partnership with Albany Technical College and we are glad to continue to provide opportunities to their students,” said Jay Smith, Area Manager for Georgia Power.
