December 10, 2014- Albany, GA- Albany Technical College's Design and Media Production Technology (DMPT) will present winners of their First Annual Juried Photography Exhibition on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at 1pm in the lobby of the Center for Excellence in Information Technology Building.

DMPT students enrolled in photography courses from Fall 2013 through Fall 2014 were eligible to submit up to three original photographs that were completed as part of class assignments for the contest. These entries have been displayed in the Center for Excellence in Information Technology building since late November for judging.

Entry categories included Portraiture, Product/Commercial, Documentary, Location/Landscape, Sports, and Macromedia. Awards and honorable mentions are at the discretion of the jurors. First, Second, and Third Place overall will be awarded, along with special prizes. Chair and instructor for the DMPT program, Jill Mash, said she is extremely pleased with all the entries that were submitted for the first annual event.

"This may be the first and only opportunity for our students to participate in an exhibition of any type, and it can be a stepping stone for them to submit their work to other photography contests or exhibitions," said Mash. "We want our students to have a strong sense of accomplishment when they complete the Photography specialization in our program, so they continue on to become successful photographers in our communities."

The exhibition is slated to continue again in 2015 and Mash said she hopes the event will get bigger and better and help to enhance the students as they build their photography portfolios. The Photography specialization is just one of several specialization areas students enrolled in the DMPT program at Albany Tech can choose from. Other areas include graphic design and illustration.
