Albany Tech announces Student of the Year winner

March 4, 2010 - Albany Technical College named Medical Assisting student Ashley Harry the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) College winner during an Albany Tech Faculty and Staff meeting on March 2. Harry was nominated by Medical Assisting instructor, Cathy Garmon.
The GOAL program recognizes exceptional technical college students from across the state for their academic excellence and personal achievement. The program also spotlights the important role of technical training in our economy.
Harry will now compete against 10 College GOAL winners representing the technical colleges and USG colleges with a technical division, in the South Georgia region. These winners and others from across the state will compete at the state level in May. The state winner serves as an ambassador of technical education in Georgia.
“Technical college education delivers work ready employees. It is taught on a highly complex collegiate level, with hands on know-how,” said Harry.
A native of Preston, GA, Harry is scheduled to graduate with a diploma in the medical assisting program this year. She then plans to pursue her registered nursing license, followed by a Nurse Practitioner license with a specialization in Psychiatry.
